Job Description

Under the direction of the administrator and in accordance with established policies and procedures, assists local districts with the development and implementation of plans and activities designed to meet assessment, continuous improvement, and accreditation needs, particularly districts identified by the MDE accountability index as CSI, ATS and TSI schools. In addition, this position will be actively involved in providing training, coaching, implementation support, coordination of activities and data collection for the implementation of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework.

What You'll Do

  • Know and guide the federal and state mandates and initiatives that impact the constituent districts including Title I requirements, funding and district practices and Ingham ISD efforts required to support CSI, ATS, TSI schools.
  • Collaborate with other Student Instructional Services staff to provide teacher, school and district level coaching in supporting districts identified in MDE's accountability index.
  • Develop, facilitate and provide training, coaching, technical assistance, problem-solving, and implementation support to district and school level leadership teams, behavior response teams, principals, classroom teachers and school staff.
  • Promote the knowledge and acquisition of skills regarding MTSS including PBIS and its benefits to the achievement of all students.
  • Execute an MTSS implementation plan that demonstrates knowledge of implementation science and systems-level change.
  • Assist local districts in the development of a continuous improvement process, comprehensive needs assessment and accreditation plans to implement and monitor planned change and educational improvements through the Michigan's Integrated Continuous Improvement Process (MICIP).
  • Provide training and support in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of various MTSS reviews and PBIS assessments (e.g., Tiered Fidelity Inventory [TFI]) to implement Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 PBIS and Academic supports).
  • Coordinate with the Student Instructional Services team and Student Support Services department regarding collection and review of the research on behavior and instructional practices, curriculum and learning organization; disseminate to school district administrators and teachers for the development of strategies in educational planning and practice.
  • Coordinate with local districts to evaluate student achievement data, provide services within a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework using data to improve student outcomes and meet state and federal requirements.
  • Participate and provide leadership in regional and state level initiatives.

    Need to Have
    • Master's degree required in curriculum and instruction or educational leadership.
    • Knowledge of the research and evidence-base practices related to MTSS, PBIS, and curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
    • Knowledge of systems-level change, implementation science, and Michigan's Integrated Continuous Improvement Process (MICIP).
    • A minimum of five to seven years of recent and relevant teaching experience and/or administrative experience (administrative experience preferred).
    • Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative relationships through strong interpersonal skills and the use of technology tools with staff at all levels of an organization including but not limited to colleagues, administrators, State of Michigan staff, behavior response teams, classroom teachers, MTSS coaches, support staff, students and parents.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of:
      • adult learning and theory in practical applications (e.g. coaching)
      • organizational theory and development
      • effective professional development practices
      • small group process and the dynamics of change
      • effective leadership strategies
      • curriculum alignment and development
      • federal and state mandates, and initiatives
      • technology that enhances curriculum, instruction and assessment

      • Demonstrated experience and expertise in developing content, planning, and conducting professional development/training.
        • Demonstrated leadership and project organizational skills (planning, progress monitoring, problem-solving and evaluating).
        • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to gain consensus.

            Work is performed in a wide variety of locations, including office and school environments. Involves sitting and walking. Requires the use of computers, office equipment and driving personal vehicle. May require attendance at evening meetings.
