School Social Worker will effectively provide therapy to students, as well as effectively collaborate and work with special education and general education teacher and school administrators and families.

The Lead Teacher is an experienced teaching professional possessing excellent educational and leadership skills who draws upon his/her teaching experience to serve as an expert resource, mentor and/or counselor to new and developing teachers. The position focuses on proven methods of teaching in order to make lessons more effective for students and, in the interest of improving the quality of instruction, provides constructive criticism and helpful solutions to teachers that does not alienate or discourage. The position is also responsible for gathering, reviewing and summarizing school performance data.

AS A Lead Teacher , YOU WILL ENJOY...

* Supervises and/or mentors teachers, providing coaching and formal evaluation; Strives to proactively address identified needs and support efforts to improve student performance;

* Ensures all assigned teachers are properly trained and adequately supported;

* Orients teachers, communicates requirements, sets and enforces deadlines, maintains regular office hours to support teachers and students; Understands how both diverse and unique characteristics of students and their families impact required support from both the homeroom teacher and the Lead teacher;

* Monitors teacher performance metrics, regularly reporting performance data to the administrative team and providing training and mentoring to teachers as needed;

* Takes ownership for student academic progress and attendance, communicates high expectations and shows an active interest in student achievement by supporting the homeroom teachers in their efforts, establishes and maintains a positive rapport with families and teachers, conducts data driven conferences with teachers;

* Lead Teachers may focus on one or more ongoing tasks/projects related to managing school operations such as: recruiting/interviewing teaching candidates; training new teachers; implementing teacher evaluation processes; assisting with student-teacher matching; maintaining uniformity among teaching procedures; developing and implementing school policies/procedures; acting as a curriculum expert for a grade level/series of grade levels; coordinating aspects of testing readiness; assisting teachers in addressing low attendance and progress issues; preparing regular reports/facilitating communications; and assisting with marketing events.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities

* Collaborates with peers in order to provide a positive experience for students;

* Assists with the promotion of professional development of teachers through the implementation of Data Driven Instruction;

* Assists with the dissemination of best practices in the virtual school setting;

* Work collaboratively with others to achieve school performance goals; Serves as a liaison between parents and teachers along with the school administrative team;

* Presents and leads various meeting school department/team meetings;

* Travels to, participates and presents in regular staff meetings and professional development sessions;

* Maintains records regarding students in accordance with school policy and state requirements.

Are you driven by excellence to deliver instruction, support and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students' individual needs* If selected, you will participate in a comprehensive new teacher training program for three weeks before the start of school. It is an opportunity to meet colleagues and learn the responsibilities required for delivering curriculum in an online environment. During this training you will also learn how to monitor student progress through K12's learning management system, and to be a partner actively working with students and parents to advance each child's learning.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor s degree in education or related field AND

* Three (3) years of successful teaching experience including experience as a virtual teacher OR

* Equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates and Licenses: Appropriate state teaching certification.

Preferred Qualifications

* Knowledgeable of state and charter school law and regulations

* Demonstrated leadership skills

* Exceptionally strong verbal and written communication skills

* Strong organizational skills

* Experienced in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and able to learn specific student management system(s)

* Ability to travel up to 25% of the time for work as may be required for training, professional development, meetings, etc.

* Ability to pass required background check.
