Basic Function

The Product Development Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving Machine Learning tool for Polypropylene compounds, design closely with vendors, and work with all technical teams to ensure that all engineers master the tool for product optimization and development, thus maximizing value creation. May also be responsible for "cradle to grave" support of Polypropylene compounded resins for applications in areas including transportation and other industry segments.


Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage data pipeline from data source to AI models, relating various data sources and structures to one another, and resolve data issues throughout pipeline
• Support, improve, and expand Machine Learning model capability for product development activities to maximize value creation
• Develop new PP Compounds for target applications in areas of interest
• Support commercialization of PP Compounds (quality, manufacturing, and OEM approvals)
• Manage specific set of raw materials, work with raw material suppliers to expand product capabilities, develop best practice technologies and communicate with technology team.
• Act as technical focal point at customer and OEM representing product and company
• Follow HSE and safety guidelines
• Address customer problems as related to materials

  • Minimum requirement is a Bachelor's degree in areas including Polymers, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry. MS or PhD degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of three years working experience in data analytics and data science, specifically understanding, cleaning, and wrangling complex datasets. Ideal candidate has experience in utilizing Al technologies and data management for polymer materials blending and compounding, sound understanding of polymer structure, properties, processing especially compounding and injection molding and their relationships.
  • Background in Statistics, preferably Monte Carlo simulation and score functions in machine learning. Experience in Machine Learning models a plus.
  • Programing skills with Python and other languages in DSVM or other environments. Working with data repositories such as Azure.
  • Working knowledge with data architecture, experience in data management and processing from different databases or systems, and data presentation including graphic building
  • Understanding of polymer structure property relationship, polymer characterization methods and data interpretation
  • Knowledge and experience in polymer blending and/or compounding processes preferred.
