Materials and Purchasing Assistant Manager

Job Description:


Responsible for the day to day management of materials and delivery schedules for raw materials and parts.

Communicates effectively with all team members including cross-functional teams, internal customers and with external suppliers.
Day to Day leadership to team members outlining clear expectations and consistently addressing holding individuals accountable.
Maintain a working knowledge of all operating systems pertaining to materials and manufacturing.
Researches, analyzes, and monitors suppliers' on-time delivery ability to assist Shyft in achieving corporate goals.
Improve policies, procedures & processes to be standard practices for all team members and maintain on SparNet.
Ensures the customer is top priority and reduces shortages to meet their needs.
Quickly implements corrective actions when there is a failure in the flow of materials.
Understand methods of converting and communicating demand requirements for materials into detailed plans and schedules for inventory acquisition.
Manages all aspects of the day-to-day procurement of materials.
Controls inventory levels within the specified goals and develop creative ways to improve turns/days on hand levels. Reduction in inventory, excessiveness, and obsolescence.
Manages the supplier on-time delivery evaluation program and works with the supply management team to cooperatively improve supplier on-time delivery.
Identifies, documents, and implements opportunities for continuous improvement projects. .
Ensure proper allocation to work center, load, capacity, and efficient utilization of equipment.
Monitor and track material inventories, production progress, and other factors that affect schedules.
Modify and adapt production schedules and issues order changes to accommodate revisions, cancellations, or priorities.
Work with appropriate departments/staff for schedule creation, progress updates, problem analysis, and corrective action recommendations.
Prepare all required reports and correspondence.
Maintain knowledge of plant capacity and develop solutions for efficient utilization.
Identify, document, and implement opportunities for continuous improvement.
To communicate effectively with all team members including cross-functional teams, internal customers and with external suppliers.
Create and maintain material forecast for each customer
Create line-ups for N-Gas and F-Series.
Manages the supplier on-time delivery evaluation program and works with the supply management team to cooperatively improve supplier on-time delivery.
Perform sales order entry.
Create sales order files.
Print shipping information.
Support finance with audits.
Assist with ERP implementation.

Four year degree preferred.
Two to five years materials experience in complex/fast paced materials environment.
Ongoing commitment to drive improvements to a high standard of excellence.
Demonstrate detailed knowledge of manufacturing planning, master production scheduling, product definition, inventory control, materials requirements planning, capacity requirements planning, transportation, and purchasing business functions.
Some background in the management and development of the planning, logistics and inventory control processes. Capable or experience in switching to a new MRP system.

Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
Basic competence in subordinates' duties and tasks.
Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
Demonstrated project management skills.
Acute attention to detail with a passion for 100% accuracy.
Proficient on ERP/MRP, MSMicrosoft Office Suite and PC network applications MRPII/ERP systems and AS400.
Ability to make timely decisions and meet deadlines.
Ability to deal effectively with a diverse group of individuals at all organizational levels.
Ability to work independently and as a member of various project teams.
Solid judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and scientific method.
