Working under the direction of the MSD Project Delivery Leadership and Global PMO standards, this leadership position will be responsible for the coordinated management of Project and Program Managers toward strategic business and organizational objectives within the NTT MCIS Project Management and Delivery Organization. Team Manager, Project Management focuses on successful team output and delivery of IT projects related to the design, development, execution, implementation of systems or applications, while ensuring ultimate success and acceptance of project, adherence to the highest quality standards and meets or exceeds the needs of our customer and business.

Role Summary

  • Responsible for the overall direction, management, communication, reporting, and accountability of project work efforts, resourcing, and performance/success of projects across their team and IT organization.
  • Build credibility, establish rapport, and maintain communication with stakeholders at multiple levels, including executive and those external to the organization.
  • Serve as an influential leader by demonstrating professionalism, passion/enthusiasm for success, providing communication/motivation and creating teamwork and collaboration.
  • Maintain continuous alignment of portfolio scope with strategic business objectives and make recommendations to modify the projects/programs to enhance effectiveness toward the business result or strategic intent. Able to measure and prove the realization of benefits (business value).

    Responsibilities
    • Manages direct reports and oversees project managers. This includes interviewing, planning, assigning, performance evaluation, coaching, mentoring, and directing work.
    • Accountable for overseeing a portfolio of projects assigned to direct reports, including responsibility for managing successful project delivery, performance, and reporting into the global portfolio.
    • Mentor project managers in achieving objectives, as well as their long-term development goals.
    • Act as a role model and mentor with both program and project management methodology, standards, strategy, quality and change leadership - leads by example.
    • Define and initiate projects, and assign and monitor project managers to manage cost, schedule, and performance of projects and programs.
    • Maintain continuous alignment of projects and programs with strategic business objectives and make recommendations to modify the project or programs to enhance effectiveness toward the business result or strategic intent.
    • Governance activities, including managing across multiple customers with internal and external dependencies, complex or multiple scope, a higher level of risk requiring mitigation plans, multiple integration points, and time sensitive work within global, matrix teams.
    • Pre-sales assistance and deal review support.
    • Relied upon to coach, mentor and train other Project Managers and serve as subject matter experts and leaders in their field.
    • Accountable for the financial management including forecasting, change control, revenue conversion and cost reductions of the project portfolio assigned to direct reports.
    • Provide leadership and direction and integrate activities with other departments to ensure successful implementation and support, including presales.
    • Ensure the oversight and coordination of dependencies across the projects and programs in their portfolio and resolve or escalate conflicts. Report on progress and escalate key issues to stakeholders and management in a timely manner to maintain progress.
    • Engage with and conduct regular reviews with senior business, IT, executives, stakeholder committees, steering committee, and other relevant bodies to validate and assess the project portfolio, execute change, and reprioritize to meet business needs as required.
    • Manage all aspects of project delivery management and project lifecycles when required, by effectively initiating, planning, scheduling, controlling, and bringing to closure multiple, high profile, high priority projects.

      Senior Level and Supervisory Responsibilities:
      • Executive Steering Committee and customer presentations, interact with all stakeholder levels
      • Portfolio management and program/project resource allocation
      • Accept responsibility for deliverables and timeline commitments
      • Directly supervise and mentor team members
      • Perform or contribute to performance reviews for project and program managers
      • Define, develop, and execute individual development roadmaps
      • Contribute to ongoing improvement of organizational project management processes

        Required Experience
        • Minimum 14-17 years of professional experience
        • Minimum 14-17 years of formal Project Management experience utilizing a consistent and methodical approach to project delivery, including experience with Infrastructure
        • Proven experience managing complex IT programs and projects utilizing PMI PMBOK standards and industry best practices
        • Experience managing concurrent programs and project teams in a matrix organization
        • Solid change control experience

            Required Qualifications:
            • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent Project Management work experience
            • PMI PMP or PgMP Certification
            • ITIL Foundations certification

              Required Skills
              • Strong ability to professionally manage a team of high performing project managers.
              • Detail and big picture oriented with the ability to develop, execute and revise strategic plans for direct report in conjunction with other managers to ensure cohesion among all project managers.
              • Ability to identify trends in the industry, in NTT core competencies and contracts being sold and being able to use this information to update policy and procedure to ensure the project managers are delivering to the highest standard possible.
              • Excellent Communication Skills. Must be comfortable communicating with C-level staff and possess demonstrated experience in making articulate and effective oral presentations to a variety of audiences.
              • Strong interpersonal skills: the ability to build relationships with and influence other functional areas.
              • Superior leadership, people, and organizational skills; ability to effectively motivate and leverage a global, geographically dispersed, fast paced team of high performing individuals.
              • Possess the knowledge and skills needed to be effective in the project, business and/or government environments, and to make decisions that accomplish strategic objectives. In addition, the team manager should have advanced skills in finance, cross-cultural awareness, leadership, communication, influence, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
              • Ability to step into projects already in progress or in need of rescue to assist the assigned PM with project course correction and escalation remediation.
              • Self-starter and proactive in fast paced and dynamic environment.
              • Superior tactical and execution skills; dynamic, proactive attitude with the ability to take the initiative and find ways of driving and executing multiple concurrent activities despite ambiguity and organizational complexity.
              • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
              • Proficient with Project Management and collaboration tools including MS Project and Smartsheet.
              • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple people, projects, programs, and knowledge of and demonstrated experience in project management processes and SDLC.
              • Strong ability to professionally manage a cross-functional team of multiple project resources (including partner-resources and third-party vendors) effectively.
              • Organization and time management skills: must be able to operate independently with minimal guidance by management and meet deadlines under pressure.
              • Problem-solving skills with ability to perform root cause analysis.
              • Extensive experience in meeting planning and facilitation.
              • Proactive issue and risk identification, tracking, management, and resolution.
              • Status collection and reporting - via documents and status meetings.
              • Experience in managing multiple projects, priorities, and project scope creep.
              • Ability to work in collaboration with project team members.
