Job Description:
Job Description General Summary: Under the administrative
direction of the Integrated Care Services Clinic Supervisor and the
clinical direction of the Medical Director, the Staff Nurse
Practitioner provides psychiatric services to consumers consistent
with LifeWays and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services
policies, the laws of the State of Michigan, and the ethical
standards of the American Medical Association that adheres to the
standards of LifeWays, Department of Health and Human Services
Access Standards, and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation
Facilities (CARF). This position requires the ability to foster
positive engagement with consumers that will assist them in
beginning their path to recovery. Essential Functions: Supports the
mission, philosophy, and goals of LifeWays while providing direct
psychiatric services through comprehensive assessment, diagnosis,
treatment planning, and treatment of consumers. Provides direct
medical and psychiatric services to consumers in the most efficient
and effective manner possible through psychiatric evaluation,
medication reviews, and prescription of and monitoring of
medications. Participates in coordinated quality improvement
activities including peer reviews, credentialing reviews, and
review of psychiatric indicators. Serves as an active member of the
medical staff and participates in medical and administrative
committees. Makes recommendations to the Medial Director regarding
program development and clinical concerns. Examines and certifies
consumers requiring involuntary psychiatric hospitalization
pursuant the provisions of the Michigan Mental Health Code.
Provides on-call back up for peers in their absence. Responsible
for accurate and clinically competent documentation all information
regarding consumer treatment in electronic medical record within
timeliness standards. Participates in training programs for medical
professionals as required. Participates in a meaningful way in
helping plan and implement processes which work to improve the
quality of care. Participates in implementation of Psychiatric
Evidence Based Practices. Carries out LifeWays policies and
procedures. Participates and contributes to the goals and
objectives of the interdisciplinary team of which he/she is a
member. Works collaboratively with other community healthcare and
human service providers. Maintains and acceptable level of
productivity, attendance, and work performance. Attends and
participates in meetings with treating psychiatrists. Collaborates
with the Medical Director at least weekly. Attends meetings,
trainings, and conferences, as requested. Represents LifeWays in a
positive, professional manner while attending community events, as
required. Maintains regular and predictable attendance. Required
Education / Certificate / Licensure MSN degree and NP certification
in the State of Michigan. Licensed to practice as an NP in the
State of Michigan. Valid Michigan Controlled Substance License and
Drug Enforcement Agency Registration. Must pass background
verification and credentialing procedure consisting of: Michigan
State Police clearance check, verification of a professional
licenses, Medicaid/Medicare verification, verification of the
National Practitioners Databank/Healthcare Integrity & Protection
Databank Search, verification of Board Certification, educational
background check and verification of an acceptable work history.
Must be insurable through the professional liability and
malpractice insurance provided by LifeWays. Preferred Education /
Certifications / Licensure Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or
Clinical Nurse Specialist
