Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Medical/Surgical Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of Medical/Surgical and Oncology Experience License: Active Michigan Nursing License Certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA) Must-Have: Comfortable taking Step Down Patients Description: The medical oncology unit will consist of patients with a cancer diagnosis. It will include medical step-down patients and general medical overflow. The role requires basic knowledge of the pathophysiology of cancer. The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients on this unit. Responsibilities include regularly assessing patient needs and providing skilled nursing services as per the physician's plan of care. Direct patient care includes nursing assessments, medication administration, treatments, and responding to alarms. The RN will evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans and patient condition. This includes making suggestions and participating in updating the treatment plan in collaboration with team members. Processing physician orders and performing ordered care accurately and timely is a key responsibility.
