Job Description Job Description Duties: Demonstrates
understanding of Cardiac, Vascular, Respiratory, and Renal,
physiology and pathology. Assists with orientation and training of
Cath Lab staff. Responsible for special projects and may include
sitting in on relevant committees. Adheres to the principles of
medical ethics as applied to the role of the Cardiac Cath Lab Tech
II. Demonstrates thorough understanding of ECG and related medical
terminology. Recognizes ECG waveform morphology, wave patterns and
their significance, including lethal arrhythmias. Recognize and
interpret ECG changes occurring in heart chamber enlargement and
myocardial infarctions and is able to respond appropriately. (ACLS)
List and describe the most common cardiac pathologies, including
symptoms and treatments. Demonstrate an understanding of all of the
Cardiac medications (Generic & Trade names) and the
pharmacokinetics actions related to cardiac and vascular functions
and properly documents the medications including indications for
administration and dosages. Recognizes and alerts physicians to
abnormalities with clinical laboratory values for Arterial Blood
Gases, electrolytes, hemoglobin, BUN and creatinine. Demonstrates
knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and is able to perform
all components as a Cardiac Cath Lab Tech II for a patient
undergoing a full cardiac arrest. Monitors a diagnostic cardiac
catheter procedure. Intervenes appropriately during and after a
lethal arrhythmia using ACLS standards if warranted. Identities
coronary anatomy in cine angiographic projections. Identify cardiac
pressure waveforms and informs Interventional Cardiologist when
applicable. Calculates basic hemodynamic parameters using the
recording computer. Records catheterization events in the database
computer.17. Understands the necessary supplies required, can
provide them and set up a table to perform a diagnostic cardiac
catheterization. Describes the fundamental steps in a diagnostic
heart catheterization and monitors a patient safely during the
procedure. Performs cardiac outputs, O2 saturations and ACT
(Activated Clotting Time) measurements. Monitors a percutaneous
intervention and can differentiate between a PTCA, dirctional and
mechanical rotation atherectomy. Full understanding of all
extraction devices such as angiojet, rotoblator and laser
revascularization devices. Ability to explain the indication and
potential complications of thrombolytic therapy for Acute MI.
Identify the benefits of supplementing angiographic imaging with
intravascular ultrasound and Doppler velocimetry technologies.
Describe the indications for electrophysiologic testing, permanent
pacemaker implant, and therapeutic ablation of dysrhythmias and
implantable cardioverter defibrillators. Ability to identify the
main components of our Cath. Lab fluoroscopy system and gain the
ability to utilize all of the necessary components to ensure that
the Physician has the appropriate visibility to perform the
procedure. Skills: Must meet or exceed core customer service

service values Physical Demands/Working Conditions: Ability to
scrub in a sterile environment for an undetermined amount of time.
Ability to wear lead aprons weighing up to 5 lbs. for an
undetermined amount of time. With team assistance as needed, the
employee must have the ability to lift patients to and from a
stretcher/bed to a procedure table. With team assistance as needed,
the employee must have the ability to push a bed or stretcher with
an immobilized patient on it. Education: High School diploma or
G.E.D. equivalent. Graduate of an accredited program in Allied
Health Sciences (e.g., Cardiovascular Technology, Radiologic
Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Exercise Science, or Cardiac or
Vascular Sonography, or equivalent academic program and
experience.) Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or
Radiology Technologist (ARRT) with Cardiac Interventional (CI) or
Vascular Interventional (VI). Valid BCLS certification
required/ACLS certification required within six (6) months of hire.
Schedule Notes: Must have Registered Cardiovascular Invasive
Specialist (RCIS) certification. Must have BLS and ACLS Certs Must
have experience at least a year experience scrubbing within Cath
Lab, Diagnostics, PCI's, Impellas, Balloon Pumps, Peripheral
diagnostic interventions Structural Heart and EP
(electrophysiology) experience preferred but not required. IR
experience preferred but not required. *Must have a team first
mentality and help out when needed No Fellowship program at
facility Merge Hemo and Merge Cardio programs utilized. Will be
working in a four (4) person team *Will be responsible for
Scrubbing in and setting up tables Department is both Cath Lab and
EP Three (3) labs, Range from 12-20 cases per day
