SW Consultants is recruiting on behalf of a successful, growing
West Michigan manufacturer, searching for a Human Resources Manager
with a passion for associate growth and development. Reporting to
the President, this position is responsible for supporting the
creation, delivery, and implementation of all Human Resources
functions for the Company. Essential duties include:
-Performs professional management functions including, but not
limited to, aggressive recruitment, placement, and orientation of
qualified new employees, promotions, employee relations, human
resource policies and procedures, compensation, benefits,
safety/health, company-wide activities, awards, personnel records,
employee communications, career development, training, employee
-Works with leadership to identify and assess business partner
needs for associate and leadership development and training;
coordinating with business partners and leadership to deliver
cross-functional and on-the-job training; collaborating with
functional teams on the development of effective training
interventions including conducting performance appraisals, giving
and receiving feedback, competency development and assessment, and
-Responsible for informing the President, senior staff, and other
Company managers of any shifts in labor requirements, potential
problems, changes of direction in labor law, and other human
resources related crises, which may affect the Company.
-Administers wage and salary administration programs, position
descriptions, training and compensation, ensuring accurate and
timely information entered into the HRIS system, allowing ease of
access for associates.
-Coaching and mentoring leadership and associates alike to improve
working relationships, promoting open communication and working
toward a challenging yet rewarding work environment.
-Spearheads environmental health and safety programs, including all
risk management activities. Investigates accidents and prepares
appropriate reports for Company's insurance carrier. Recommends
safety improvements needed.
-Ensures legislative compliance in such areas as I-9's, poster
compliance, wage and hour, annual audits, ensures implementation
and monitoring compliance of existing Company policies and programs
such as postings, orientation, retention, exit interviews and
revisions to handbooks and orientation materials.
-Previous human resources experience in a manufacturing environment
is highly preferred.
-Previous experience with payroll preferred.
-Must possess the ability to develop and maintain effective
relationships and build a positive rapport with all levels of the
organization (up, down, and sideways).
-Previous case management experience to include corrective action
processes, terminations, conflict mediation, etc., highly
-Strong planning, organizational and problem solving skills
-Demonstrated ability to listen attentively and actively.
-Excellent communication skills both oral and written as well as
the ability to facilitate both small and large groups in a variety
of forums including formal presentations, working meetings business
reviews and informal discussions, in person and online.
-Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, a minimum of 10 years of
Human Resource experience, or equivalent combination of education
-Professional in Human Resources (PHR)or Senior Professional in
Human Resources (SPHR) preferred.
-Must be familiar with all local, state, and federal laws within
the Human Resource arena.
-Knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and
teambuilding programs highly desirable.
-Experience with Microsoft software package.
