Job Summary:

The Manager of Facilities is responsible for managing the maintenance department and environmental management system. The role requires the above to be accomplished within Tecomet's principles of continuous improvement, customer driven innovation and a win first culture, while meeting company financial and other performance metrics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day to day activities of the Facilities/Maintenance staff.
  • Evaluate work performance, provide regular feedback, and administer performance evaluations.
  • Interview, hire and select candidates as well as administer counseling and corrective action of department employees.
  • Ensure that proper methods, tools and systems are in place as a basis for equipment preventative maintenance, as well as working in conjunction with others OEE measures.
  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and in line with "Objective Map" actions.
  • Estimate, facilitate and monitor the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Draft and submit budget proposals, and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
  • Develop cost-benefit analysis and return-on-investment documentation as required for various "CAPEX" type projects.
  • Responsible for maintaining all controlled documents, procedures, work instructions, prints and equipment manuals.
  • Lead Environmental Management team.
  • Monitors compliance with ISO14001 EMS and manages audit processes.
  • Conducts internal ISO environmental audits.
  • Ensures compliance with environmental management system training
  • Read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations.
  • Write reports, business correspondence, procedures, manuals and work instructions.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phases and deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Develop and document best practices and tools to continually improve the performance and support abilities of the department.
  • Work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Perform engineering calculations related to mechanical and process control applications.
  • Understand, analyze, and compute basic financial information, such as return on investment, and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Work under pressure and remain flexible to schedule changes and demand.
  • Additional duties as requested by management. Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned by supervisor.

Qualification Requirements

Educational/Training Requirement:

  • Possess a 4 year college/university degree in a technically related field; and/or a minimum of 6 years related experience and/or training.

Experience:

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will also satisfy this requirement.
  • Refer to Educational/Training Requirement.
  • TPM - Total Productive Maintenance, experience desirable.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Six Sigma "belt" certification preferred.
  • Certified Project Manager, Project Management Professional, and/or Certified Facility Manager preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Other Requirements

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, project management software and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise judgment.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO 14001, AS9100, cGMP, and various regulatory standards and OSHA and MIOSHA regulations.
  • Strong background in blueprint reading (both architectural and mechanical) and geometric tolerancing.
  • Working knowledge at various CAD systems.
  • Working knowledge of inspection equipment.
  • Solid background in purchasing contract language and negotiations.
  • Must be familiar with international and domestic shipping practices.
  • Basic knowledge of statistical process control and Lean methodologies, TPM.
  • Forging and machining background.
  • Six Sigma "green belt" certification preferred.
  • Certified Project Manager, Project Management Professional, and/or Certified Facility Manager preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing cross functional teams

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be required to stand. The employee could frequently be required to walk; use hand to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee could be required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee could occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job could include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
