Armed Court OfficerAPPLICANTS MUST HAVE PRIOR LAW ENFORCEMENT
EXPERIENCE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITIONREGION: Lansing,
MITITLE: Armed Court OfficerSCOPE:Security Officers are responsible
for protecting the site s building, grounds, assets, employees, and
visitors against criminal activity, accidents, fires, and natural
disasters, as well as providing outstanding customer service. Armed
Court Officers will rotate through various posts, including
Reception Desk, Security Control Center, Receiving, and Access
Control screening. There is no prisoner or defendant escorts
included in the job responsibilities at this
location.UNIFORM:Blazer and Tie (Provided by DK
Security)SCHEDULE:1st shift various days.ABOUT THE JOB:Exact duties
can vary by site assignment.AlwaysReport on time, in uniform, for
scheduled shifts.Provide excellent customer service.Look for
suspicious persons, packages, and activities.Document activity and
duties.Follow and enforce site specific post guidelines.Specific
Duties (Based on Post Guidelines)Guard Posts - Static post at
access points, doorways, building lobbies, reception areas, etc.
Check for employee and vendor identifications. Ensure unauthorized
persons do not enter restricted areas.Foot Patrols - Walk interior
and exterior of the site to check that entrances, doors, windows,
and vents are locked and secure against break-ins. Document
security, safety, and maintenance issues.Remote Monitor - Monitor
surroundings on closed-circuit television, allow/deny site access
with remote access control.Vehicle Patrols - Some sites require
driving a vehicle to patrol sections of that site.Reports -
Computer or paper-based documentation of shift activity, incidents,
patrols, or other site-specific reports.Communication - De-escalate
situations while effectively communicating rules and
policies.Response - May provide first aid or other medical
treatment in emergency situations. Facilitate for First Responders,
crime/fire/medical, with emergency situations that may occur on
site.Other - Duties that may be client or site
unique.QUALIFICATIONS:Must be at least 21 years of age or
older.Must be a current holder of a valid, unexpired Michigan CPL
or be licensed to carry a concealed weapon in the State of
Michigan.Must have prior experience in a law enforcement position,
which includes training on handcuffing and defensive tactics.Must
have either a high school diploma or GED equivalent.Must be of good
moral character and have the ability to pass an extensive criminal
background check, with no felony convictions, and no misdemeanor
convictions for criminal sexual conduct or related offenses, theft,
assault, illegal substances, multiple alcohol related offenses, or
crimes of moral turpitude, is required.Must be able to pass a
psychological evaluation.Must be able to successfully pass a drug
test at the time of hire and annually thereafter.Must be
comfortable being viewed by the public, present a friendly and
positive image, and possess at all times the utmost
professionalism, adhering to our Appearance and Grooming
policy.Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal
communication skills.Must be able to read and write in the English
language and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating
procedures, maintenance instructions and reports.Intermediate
computer skills required - Comfortable with Microsoft Office,
Email, Internet, and able to learn new software.Must have reliable
transportation.Ability to work independently with little or no
supervision.Physical Requirements:Must be physically and mentally
sound.Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle or feel
objects, tools, or controls.Must be able to reach with hands and
arms, and to hold objects.Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for
8-12 hour shifts, including walking long distances, and possibly up
and down stairs.Must be readily able to respond to emergency
situations.Must be able to work in or outdoors during all
seasons.Must be able to hear conversations (in person or via 2-way
radio) in noisy environments.Must be able to occasionally lift up
