As a Designer / BIM Coordinator at C2AE you will be performing design in a specific discipline on project teams as well as collaborating with the Revit Team and users to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of Revit for design, bidding and construction documents, including developing and updating Revit standards, templates, and families. You will provide support to project teams in the development of projects including model setup, model maintenance, creating families, clash detection, and assisting in the development of bidding and construction documents.

Responsibilities

Architecture or Engineering, and Design (50%)

  • Operate as a designer in an Engineering or Architecture discipline
  • Use software to draft, design, detail, and modify project designs/plans utilizing firm specifications.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques and procedures.
  • Review designs for compliance with codes and specifications.
  • Clarify and resolve technical issues.
  • May provide technical assistance with proposals and presentations.
  • May write reports and memorandums and assist with project presentations to clients.
  • May assist the PM, as requested, in the preparation of cost information.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
    BIM Manager (40% with a majority of the time billable to projects)

    * Lead and meet regularly with the Revit Team to:
    • Improve processes, update standards and best practices
    • Identify and implement Revit initiatives
    • Identify Revit training needs
    • Identify/resolve Revit issues
    • Coordinate with IT the annual Revit upgrade install and new build installs
    • Collaborate and identify Revit template updates and update the template files
    • Setup the Revit model on all new projects
    • Train new staff in C2AE Revit processes and procedures as part of their onboarding; identify and arrange outside training for new staff with limited Revit experience/skill
    • Training in person, remotely, one-on-one and in group setting will be required
    • Provide Revit support and technical assistance to users, e.g. responding to Revit support requests, troubleshooting model & family issues, model restoration, linking models, and other tasks
    • Conduct periodic Revit model maintenance for all active Revit projects (approx. 20-30 projects)
    • Includes reviewing warnings, content management and possible purging
    • Develop and maintain Revit libraries for all disciplines, with input and assistance from each discipline
    • Create and edit families
    • Conduct, or assist other staff with conducting, clash detection on projects of significant size or complexity, utilizing Navisworks
    • Review and monitor Revit processes and procedures when collaborating with outside consultants, with support from IT as needed
    • Work with IT to develop C2AE hardware standards for all Revit users; recommend hardware updates for annual budgeting
    • Monitor all users to ensure they are on the same Revit build (version & update); work with IT to update Revit software
    • Research, recommend, budget for, and support implementation of Revit Add-on software
      Administrative (10%)

      • Lead Revit Team meetings, participate in all staff meetings, and other non-billable planning sessions.
      • Participate in training and development activities as needed and directed by supervisor
      • Perform administrative tasks including, but not limited to, time sheet completion, expense reports, completing correspondence, etc.
        Technical Qualifications

        • Associates Degree in Architectural, Engineering, or Construction Technology, required
        • Bachelors (or Masters) degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Architectural Engineering, or Engineering from an accredited college or university, preferred
        • 3-5+ years of Architectural or Engineering project technical development and construction document development using Revit, including experience on projects of $10M - $15M in construction
        • Knowledge of any design discipline Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical or Structural (Revit based design disciplines)
        • Demonstrate advanced knowledge and experience in the following:
        • Autodesk Revit Suite Architecture, Structural, MEP (2016 & newer)
        • Revit Server, Dynamo, Family Creation
        • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in the following:
        • Building project life cycle (Concept/SD/DD/CD/Bidding/CA)
          * Experience with the following, desirable:
          * Navisworks
          * BIM 360
          • Sketch-up
          • MasterSpec
          • Point cloud/laser scanning
          • Experience providing Revit leadership in an A/E firm, or similar, preferable, including:
          • Training
          • Troubleshooting
          • Creating and maintaining Revit models utilizing worksets
          • Developing and maintaining Revit libraries
          • Developing & confirming conformity to firm Revit standards
            Physical Qualifications

            • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
            • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
            • Physical dexterity and ability to negotiate around a crowded and busy working office area, and around a crowded and busy working area, including construction sites
