Youth in this program do not usually have a family member living in the US with whom they can reunify.Staff in this program work to ensure youth thrive in their foster homes, providing case management, clinical support, educational and life skills support, and specialized training for foster homes. These youth are given status in the United States as Unaccompanied Children (UC). The children you will be serving will come from diverse and oftentimes traumatic backgrounds, and are placed in both foster home and group home settings where Samaritas provides case management, therapy, and other supportive services. The program also helps these youth adjust to the customs and culture of the United States while pursuing their goals of education, English-language learning, and independence. As the Unaccompanied Children (UC) Long Term Foster Care Clinician, you will be responsible for providing trauma-informed treatment planning and delivery to youth. The Clinician completes assessments of youth and offer consultation to Case Managers on cases. In addition to conducting individual therapy sessions, the Clinician role will also be required to facilitate group counseling sessions to program youth. This position is expected to function effectively with moderate supervision while following the guidelines given on procedures, along with agency, state, and federal regulatory requirements.Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide direct therapeutic services to clients and program participants as needed, including group work and family therapyAdminister required behavioral and mental health assessments for youthCoordinate services for each youth in conjunction with Case ManagerParticipate in staff meetings and offer clinical feedback regarding client treatment needsAttend, facilitate, and assist with providing on-going education and support services to foster parentsProvide record keeping and documentation for all clinical activities in accordance with program and contractor policyProvide crisis intervention and guidance to youth and foster families regarding clinical components of crisis intervention and long-term treatment strategiesProvide community -based counseling to youthComply with laws and regulations regarding client confidentialityAbility to work flexible hours and work independently within the fieldJob QualificationsEducation, Training, and Licensure/CertificationMaster's degree in Social Work with clinical experience;OR Master's degree in psychology, sociology, or other relevant behavioral science in which direct clinical experience is a program requirementLicensure to provide clinical services in Michigan or eligible to obtain professional licensure or registrationExperiencePrior experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferredAt least two (2) years of experience in child welfare/case management, strongly preferredBi-lingual English and Spanish strongly preferred; additional compensation for bilingualMust be 21 years old or older at the time of application.Additional Work RequirementsParticipate in a system of 24 hour availability to clients, foster and adoptive parents, as requiredUnrestricted valid driver's license with good driving record.
