Job Description:
Position: Assessor Reports to: Assessment Team Lead Location:
Work remotely and travel 60-70% of the time. We are looking a
candidate that resides in Southeast Michigan counties (Wayne,
Oakland, and Macomb, Monroe, St Clair, Livingston, Lapeer).
Schedule: Monday - Friday Salary: $48,996-$59,884 Class: Non-Exempt
Position Summary: The Assessor supports the Great Start to Quality
assessment process to ensure fidelity to the model through the
assessment of family and group homes, and early childhood and
education centers. Requirements Duties and Responsibilities: This
list is intended to represent job related duties and should not be
viewed as exhaustive. Prepare for and conduct on-site observations
of various licensed child care program types, including home-based
and center-based programs serving ages birth-12 years, utilizing
different program assessment tools, and observe the program,
children, and staff. Input observation data and evidence in the
Great Start to Quality system in accordance with policies and
procedures. Prepare detailed written reports of the observations in
accordance with policies and procedures. Participate in the review
of documents and written evidence in accordance and compliance with
the appeals and review process. Consult and advise with Quality
Improvement Coaches on completed assessments in the development of
quality improvement plans. Participate in internal workgroups and
meetings as needed to support the successful implementation of
assessments. Maintain detailed knowledge of Great Start to Quality
including, but not limited to: Great Start to Quality quality
indicators, Self-Reflection and quality improvement process, and
required documentation. Meet regularly with Assessment Manager and
Director of Systems as needed to keep them abreast of assessment
efforts. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation in
accordance with protocols and timeframes. Knowledge, Skills, and
Abilities: Associate Degree with three (3) years of related
experience; Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood or related field
preferred. Maintain certifications and annual reliability for
specific assessment tools utilized by Great Start to Quality.
Knowledge of quality rating and improvement systems for child care
and early learning settings. Knowledge of assessment tools. Ability
to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally both verbally
and in writing. Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to
detail while managing multiple tasks, projects, and timelines.
Ability to use data and analytical skills to proactively identify
opportunities, set priorities, and solve problems. Strong
interpersonal and relationship building skills. Ability to partner
with racially and ethnically diverse colleagues and community
members. Ability to utilize all technology associated with Great
Start to Quality at highly proficient level. Proficient in
Microsoft Office, Adobe, and web-based applications. Possession of
a valid driver’s license and vehicle or other ability of travel
throughout Michigan, including periodic overnight travel. Physical
Requirements: Talking - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of
the spoken word to impart oral information to others accurately.
(4-5 hours daily) Hearing - Perceiving the nature of sounds at
normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to
receive detailed information through oral communication, and to
make the discriminations in sound. (4-5 hours daily) Walking -
Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long
distances or moving from one work site to another. (2-3 hours
daily) Standing – In one position, particularly for sustained
periods of time. (2-3 hours daily) Visual Acuity – Viewing objects
with close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing
and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer
terminal; and/or extensive reading. (4-5 hours daily) Office
Setting - Sedentary work in which exerting up to 10 pounds of force
is occasional and a negligible amount of force is frequently or
constantly used to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move
objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting
most of the time. Work Location: Work remotely and travel 60-70% of
the time. Travel will be predominantly within Michigan with some
travel to other geographical areas for projects, ECIC meetings and
to meet the needs of the organization. (Applicants who live in SE
